Tri-Valley Housing Opportunity Center Objectives
The Tri-Valley region is the fastest growing region in Alameda County. From 1990 to 2000, the Tri-Valley‘s population increased by 28%; with the Latino-Hispanic population growing by 72%, accounting for 23% of the overall population growth. During this same time period, the Asian and Pacific Islander population grew by 129%. During the last ten years, the number of households with limited English proficiency increased by 204%. This population is primarily Spanish speakers with a sizeable number of Asian/Pacific Islanders.
Over the next five to ten years, an additional 20,000-25,000 new homes - primarily in Dublin and San Ramon - will be built in the Tri-Valley Area. Out of this new housing construction, it is expected that roughly ten percent will be affordable to low-incone households. The Tri-Valley Housing Opportunity Center will be working towards identifying these underserved low income groups and developing programs to meet their needs.
The Tri-Valley Housing Opportunity Center will provide information about private sector lender programs, funding sources and homebuyer pre- and post-purchase education - helping to match those in need with the programs and services that benefit them most. Serving the Town of Danville and the cities of Dublin, Livermore, Pleasanton, and San Ramon, as well as the Counties of Alameda and Contra Costa, the Tri-Valley Housing Opportunity Center will provide a one-stop-shop to over 260,000 people in the Tri-Valley region.
